Earlier this week I was invited over to a buddy's apartment to watch a film called "The Fall". It was directed by Tarsem Singh in 2006 and released in May of 2008. I heard that it was filmed in over 30 countries so i was excited to see the cinematography It definitely didn't disappoint, it was the most beautiful cinematography i have ever experienced.
The story line was simple and easy to follow, which was good because everything else about the movie was so detailed that it would have been impossible to fully grasp the film if the plot was complicated. "The Fall" was a film about a little Romanian girl and an american stunt man/actor that are both being treated at a hospital in the 1930s'. The little Romanian girl had broken her arm and the stunt actor was being treated for severe spinal pain that was the result of some kind of accident he had while trying to perform a stunt where he jumps from a moving train. The movie is centered around the elaborate fairy tale the man tells the little girl over a long period of time as a way to bribe her to steal pain killers from the nurse. How the story is showed visually and the characters chosen there are many hidden messages and visual irony that make the movie so facinating.
I was most impressed by the performance of the little girl. When i researched the film I found out that not only did the little girl not know English (so she memorized all her lines by heart), but it was her first and only film.
Though the movie was rather long, I very much enjoyed it. The visual art is something else and it was a pretty moving story.

First Post
Well, I have never been the type of person to "blog", but since my English 302 class requires it I guess now I am. Since i am free to write about whatever I am interested in, I guess I will write about music and movies. I love being introduced to new bands and watching films. So i guess i will use my blog site to write about new music I encounter and to write my own reviews for films that I've seen. Cool beans.
